Original Watercolor: "The Eclipse"
Water is essential for life. Cattle need it. People need it. Many designs of windmills were and are still being used throughout Texas. No need for electricity, wind does it all. Simple and virtually maintenance free, with one control lever - on or off. We still see windmills in use, many out in the middle of nowhere just pumping water into a cattle trough.

Turkey feeding at an old cattle watering trough in South Texas. This is a typical scene in the spring time - note the mesquite trees are leafing out. The wooden frame windmill is a specialty of Gwens's, and many of these fine old windmills are still being used on ranches throughout South Texas.
